INSURANCE SOCIETY OF BALTIMORE (ISOB)

In 1969, an independent committee was formed by the Independent Insurance Agent's of Maryland, for the purpose of providing the IIA program to insurance personnel in Maryland. This committee, in partnership with other major company organizations, and insurance trade organizations, became the Insurance Industry Education Committee. In 1973, I.I.E.C. at the request of the Maryland Chapter CPCU, expanded their curriculum to include all parts of the CPCU program. I.I.E.C was incorporated in 1974. In 1981, the name was changed to the Insurance Society of Baltimore, Inc.

The purpose of the Society, is to provide and promote various programs for the continuing education of students in insurance and related fields.

The Society concentrates it’s efforts within the State of Maryland, with particular emphasis on Baltimore and surrounding areas.

The affairs of the Society, are managed by an Executive Director, who reports to a nine person Board.

Most of the Society’s instructors, have attained their CPCU designation. In many cases they hold other designations as well. They are chosen for their above average knowledge of insurance matters, and their ability to facilitate the student’s learning process.
